ANIMATION HAS BEGONE!

We are now on the 2nd week of animating, and an almost sacred quiet has befallen the WiredFly studio. We would like to welcome Rikke Rørbech who is gonna stay with us as a production assistant for the next couple of weeks. She cooks wonderful and delicious food for us and as I write this she is out filming black birds so we can study their every move. Welcome, Rikke.

The voyage continues... ...into the time/space continuum!
Godspeed to us all!

WF.HQ 9

Strikes and gutters, says I! Herr Strandgaard didn't even make it to work today - he had to call in ill. Johan is getting better, and just recovered from her illness Chris came by today. Alas, yours truely isn't so fresh either... Strikes and gutters indeed! But we must document non the less:

(Here is the brand new entrence to the WF.HQ; we painted the door red and made fancy mossaic on it).

(And here is our new runner, Nina, working the windows).

(The famous shed, that once upon a time was black, but now it is painted sallow yellow-ish and washed with some fancy darker water-ish colour).

And last, a very discret snapshot taken of Johan in the midst of working on a Luger P08.

WF.HQ 8

Johan and I are fighting against a vicious illness, that has dug its wretched claws into several members of our crew. Where is the famous Dr. McCoy when he is needed? Where is Nurse Chapel? And where is Jesus Christ? Well, we shall overcome non the less.

Johan, Herr Strangaard and Steffen are still racing against time to finish the set, and one could now see the potential in Dr. Septimus Pretorius (from James Whales' Bride of Frankenstein, 1935) – who creates small weird people in glass jars who, if disciplined, could help build our set. Or maybe we should look to Bob the Builder... or that guy who invented the dinosaurs in Jurassic Park?

When not deprived of healthy energy or time Johan's looking for a motion control for the camera. (This is a strangely esoteric and troublesome task, I can tell you). More on this as it develops.

And why, you might ask, is there no pictures in this post? It is hard to tell – it is hard to tell. Well, for now there's not much more to say, then happy Monday.

WF Runners

Our man, Asqes, smiling as he leaves us to venture into the unknown (or rather to the isle of Sjælland to visit his father). With the promise of returning one day he left our studio one rainy Thursday afternoon. One might notice the rather "dead" look in Asqes' eyes... that is because I painted them black to cover up the red spots in his eyes caused by the camera flash.
In the words of Vera Lynn we send our regards to you, young prince:
We'll meet again
don't know where - don't know when
but I know we'll meet again
some sunny day.

Here's a picture of my little sister, Lærke Arberg Kastrup making the barbed wire. She has been working as Asqes' assistant and as a substitute runner in the absence of Asqes. May your work on this production be glorious! Welcome aboard.

And lastly a picture of Herr Strandgaard - who when this picture was taken didn't do much running. Working on the props - his mind became foggy and his eyelids became heavy. Perhaps it was because he was working on a bed for the apartment, and he himself wanted a shrinking machine (working in the 1:5 scale) - to shrink him so he could sleep in the comfy bed. Alas, reality seldom satisfies the tired mind, so taken refuge in the slumber realm we found him asleep in this chair, the two handsome directors found on a dump-yard.

WF.HQ 7

From beyond liquid space our friend David Ramirez popped by the WF.HQ to paint the outdoor toilet/shed and the firewood shed. Underneath here there's a li'l picture of David cutting 'n carving in the firewood shed to give it patina. Welcome aboard, David!

Bonus information for the syndicated visitors of Earth (or this blog): David is working on a great art animation project for an exhibition in some art museum in Århus. It will be awesome!

Johan made a little list for him with some tasks for his mission.

Lets hope he will let us post the vision here...

WF.HQ 4

Greetings from the swampy realms of the Wiredfly Headquarters! Things are still progressing with the pace of a wee bit tired but yet agile moose!

(Hanna is working on hands of different shapes. There is also a beak and the head of the mother).

(Sarah making the bricks for the walls. Now presented in two different angled photos).

(Herr Strandgaard working on props).

(Tore has started on building the roof for one of the buildings).
I will update the blog later today with test photos, where Johan has composited eyes of potential actors on the maquette heads Hanna has made.
Till then....
tchüss!

WF.HQ 3

(Sarah taking the buildings to the next level).

(Johan and Tore talking about a "test-table" in the room where Tore has arranged all our POWER TOOLS and other tools).

(A work drawing of the bird done by Katrine. Unfortunatly the picture is out of focus, even though I have tried to sharpen it in photoshop).

(Herr Strandgaard working on the sewing machine for the apartment).

(Hanna modelling the head of the boy for the maquette).

(Johan & Hanna talking about the maquettes).

Artsy Fartsy picture!

Here is an artsy fartsy picture of Sarah - taken by Emil.

And for the sake of old times - here is a crying child.

(one could manage to say that all creative studios should have a crying child painting on their wall - or one could dare to differ. This crying child painting was bought in a second hand shop for 50 DKK! Insane price indeed).

WF.HQ 2

Greetings potential readers of this blog!
Yesterday, glorious Wednesday - Hanna Habermann started in WF.HQ. Johan and I have been busy making as much as possible ready for her coming!
(Hanna in her brand new fancy workroom in WF.HQ).

Also we got visited by Herr Strandgaard (his name is actually also Johan, so we needed to figure something out to avoid the chaos and confusion). Herr Strandgaard will be helping out building the props. Welcome aboard!
(Herr Strandgaard talking with Johan about the props).

(Sarah has been working on making the windows for the buildings in the backyard. Here is a few of them).

(Katrine making the maquette of one of the soldiers).

The ship is sailing steady and onwards ... towards unknown havens...

TO BOLDLY GO WHERE NO MAN HAS GONE BEFORE!

New crew members.

We are proud to welcome Hanna Habermann to the team. She will start in one week - helping us out building the puppets and we will feast on her knowledge like parasitic leeches.

(A picture from our first meeting with Hanna Habermann. Next to her, Katrine is sitting with a shark, that she has fallen in love with).
(On this film noir-ish photo taken by Emil, Tore is standing next to the building Johan has build. Tore will be helping us out finishing the buildings and perhaps making props. Welcome to the team!).
(A girl who is not new on the team - but she is finally cought on film: Christina Martiny Moltke. She is doing the Behind-the-scenes on "Four Minutes"... Here she is sitting sorting the vast amounts of clips she's recorded).

(Ellen came to visit, bringing us good news).

(Emil standing infront of the mighty wall of the storyboard).
(Johan building the building).
Katrine is writting emails; ordering materials and checking prices on armatures, while Sarah is building a foodtrolley for the backyard (we'll soon post some pictures of that).
Emil is building a mighty shed for the backyard as well - pictures will be posted of that too (when the time is right).
